Signature Homes to develop Lake Wilborn at Trace Crossings
The Hoover Planning and Zoning Commission, as well as the Hoover City Council have approved plans for the construction of 499 new homes in Lake Wilborn at Trace Crossings. The United States Steel Corporation and Signature Homes of Birmingham will develop Lake Wilborn at the end of Stadium Trace Parkway.
Although preliminary plans for the first 102 lots are underway, the actual building of homes will not begin until 2014.
Lake Wilborn will be developed on 408 acres with 145 acres remaining undisturbed. 18 acres at the front of the neighborhood will be reserved for commercial development.
Of the 499 home sites, 200 of the lots will be 50 feet wide and less than 6,000 square feet. Homes on these lots will be a minimum of 1,600 square feet for a one-story dwelling and a minimum of 2,100 square feet for one and one-half and two story dwellings. Homes on these sites will be designed to accommodate a rear alley garage entry.
The remaining 299 home sites will be 60 feet in width with front entry garages. Homes on these lots will be a minimum of 1,800 square feet for a one-story dwelling and a minimum of 2,300 square feet for one and one-half and two story dwellings.
The new Lake Wilborn neighborhood in Trace Crossings will be zoned for Trace Crossings Elementary, Brock’s Gap Intermediate, Bumpus Middle, and Hoover High School.
In addition to Lake Wilborn at Trace Crossings, several other Birmingham new home construction builders are building, or have plans to build, more new homes in the Hoover High School District.
Embassy Homes is building homes in North Ridge at Trace Crossings. The new community has 35 lots and is located on Brock’s Gap Parkway across from Chestnut Trace.
Signature Homes is building homes in the neighborhoods of Northampton and Southampton in Ross Bridge, as well as in the neighborhood of Lake Cyrus. D.R. Horton Homes is building new single-family homes in the communities of Trace Crossings and Lake Cyrus.
U.S. Steel and Embassy Homes are developing McGill Crossings on Ross Bridge Parkway for 125 new single-family homes. In addition, the construction of single-family homes by several different homebuilders continues in The Preserve community. A number of custom homebuilders are also building homes throughout the Hoover High School District.
